About this Blog

Dear Soccer World,

I am about the embark upon the most exciting journey of my life, attending the 2010 World Cup in South Africa and acting as a Field Reporter for my university at the FIFA Football For Hope Festival in Alexandra the first week of July.

I will be attempting to post my thoughts on all 64 matches, but this may be sidetracked by sub par internet access at the hostels I will be staying at.

I will be attending the following matches and thus be able to provide you with pictures and the lowdown on the match, the stadium and the atmosphere at these matches.

6/12 USA v. England, Royal Bafokeng Stadium, Rustenburg
6/13 Ghana v. Serbia, Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria
6/16 Uruguay v. South Africa, Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria
6/17 Argentina v. South Korea, Soccer City, Johannesburg,
6/18 USA v. Slovenia, Ellis Park, Johannesburg
6/19 Cameroon v. Denmark, Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria
6/20 Cote d’Iviore v. Brazil, Soccer City, Johannesburg
6/22 USA v. Algeria, Loftus Versfeld, Pretoria
6/25-6/26 USA Round of 16 Match (Hopefully!)

7/1-7/10 FIFA Football For Hope Festival, Alexandra, Johannesburg

As an International Affairs major, I have been fortunate enough to study the effects of soccer upon the international arena, never traveling too far without my Bible - How Soccer Explains the World by Franklin Foer.

Since I travel to much for my academics, I've been able to attend a wide variety of matches in my young life. Some of the highlights have been the 2009 Confederations Cup (8 matches!), a relegation playoff in Italy, league matches in Croatia and South Africa, US friendlies in Spain and Holland, and Arsenal and Barcelona at their home stadiums. Soccer is my passion academically and professionally and I like to consider myself a soccer tourist.

As a Croatian-American, my only disappointment about the World Cup is that the Vatreni and their beautiful jerseys won't be there!

Thanks for viewing and be sure to check back during the World Cup to get the lowdown on everything live from South Africa!
